HRO Poster Competition:

Background: As part of the 2024 Rear Admiral Lewis E. Angelo Professional Symposium (LEAPS), the Medical Service Corps (MSC) Corps Chief’s Office is requesting submissions for the High Reliability Poster Competition held during the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Congress on March 28, 2024.

This competition seeks to highlight both clinical and non-clinical initiatives that improve the Military Health System (MHS) by fostering more reliable processes, better outcomes, and improved quality care. While this is a friendly competition, the overarching goal is to promote a culture of learning, sharing, and continuous improvement.

Who:Senior Medical Officers (O-6, O-6 selects or high-performing O-5 officers who are on track for executive medicine)

What: Joint Medical Executive Skills Institute (JMESI) – CAPSTONE for MHS Leaders Course

When: March 18-21, 2024 (Virtual – only 6 seats allotted for Medical Corps)

Course Description: The Capstone Course is designed to be a pinnacle event for recently assigned senior military treatment facility commanders, lead agents, and senior medical department officers in key staff positions who will benefit from exposure to and familiarity with entities that shape the MHS. The course provides participants with exposure to the operations of the various organizations within the Department of Defense, pertinent congressional staffs, and the offices of the three Surgeons General. Participation in the Capstone Course will enhance the understanding of how national healthcare policies are formed, and by whom, and how they are implemented and put into operation.

Plans and Policy Officer, Medical Corps – The Medical Corps Chief seeks qualified officers to fill the O-5/O-6 level position as Plans and Policy Officer for the Medical Corps Chiefs Office. The selected individual must possess the required experience and demonstrate exceptional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform and execute the duties and responsibilities as outlined at the attached position description. The assignment is 36 months, and the primary duty location is in Falls Church, Virginia. The selected individual should arrive no later than Jun 1, 2024, with early reporting authorized.
