In the Pokémon universe, EVs, or Effort Values, are another essential aspect that determines a Pokémon's strength. In Cobblemon, just like in the main Pokémon games, EVs help shape your Pokémon's stats through training and battles. Let's explore what EVs are, how they work, and why they're important.
What Are EVs?
EVs are hidden stats that a Pokémon can gain through battling other Pokémon. Each Pokémon you defeat gives specific EVs, which contribute to increasing your Pokémon's stats. These EVs are spread across six different stats:
- HP (Hit Points): Increases the amount of damage a Pokémon can take.
- Attack: Boosts the power of physical moves.
- Defense: Enhances resistance to physical attacks.
- Special Attack: Increases the power of special moves.
- Special Defense: Improves resistance to special attacks.
- Speed: Affects the order of attacks during battles.
How Do EVs Work?
Every Pokémon can earn a total of 510 EVs, with a maximum of 252 EVs in a single stat. EVs are earned through battling and defeating wild Pokémon or other trainers' Pokémon. Each species of Pokémon you battle provides different EVs. For example, defeating a Zubat might give you Speed EVs, while a Machop might give you Attack EVs.
Here’s a breakdown of how EVs affect your Pokémon:
- Training Focus: By focusing on battling specific Pokémon, you can train your Pokémon to be particularly strong in certain stats.
- EV Spread: Trainers often plan their EV distribution, known as EV spread, to maximize a Pokémon's effectiveness in battle. For instance, a speedy attacker might have EVs distributed heavily in Speed and Attack.
Why Are EVs Important?
- Customized Training: EVs allow you to tailor your Pokémon’s stats according to your battle strategy.
- Battle Performance: Properly distributed EVs can significantly enhance your Pokémon's performance in battles.
- Competitive Edge: In competitive play, understanding and optimizing EVs can give you an edge over opponents.
- Strategic Depth: EV training adds an extra layer of strategy to the game, making battles more engaging.
How Can You Check and Train EVs in Cobblemon?
In Cobblemon, you can check your Pokémon's EVs using specific commands or items. To train EVs effectively:
- Battle Wisely: Choose battles against Pokémon that give the EVs you want.
- Use Items: Certain items, like vitamins, can increase specific EVs.
- Berries: Some berries can lower EVs in specific stats, allowing you to redistribute them if needed.
Conclusion
EVs are a critical part of understanding and optimizing your Pokémon's potential in Cobblemon. By knowing what EVs are, how they work, and why they're important, you can better strategize your gameplay and build stronger teams. Whether you're battling other trainers or exploring the world of Cobblemon, having a well-trained team with optimized EVs can make a significant difference in your success.
Happy training, and may your Pokémon become the best they can be!
]]>In the world of Pokémon, IVs, or Individual Values, are a crucial aspect that determines a Pokémon's potential. In Cobblemon, just like in the main Pokémon games, IVs play an essential role in shaping how strong your Pokémon can become.
]]>![<![CDATA[Cobblemon GG]]> (10) <![CDATA[Cobblemon GG]]> (10)](https://i0.wp.com/cobblemon.gg/content/images/2024/06/ivinfo.png)
In the world of Pokémon, IVs, or Individual Values, are a crucial aspect that determines a Pokémon's potential. In Cobblemon, just like in the main Pokémon games, IVs play an essential role in shaping how strong your Pokémon can become. Let's dive into what IVs are, how they work, and why their maximum value is 186.
What Are IVs?
IVs are hidden stats that each Pokémon has, which affect their overall performance in battles. Think of them as a Pokémon's genes, determining how good they are in different areas. Each Pokémon has six IVs, one for each of the following stats:
- HP (Hit Points): Determines how much damage a Pokémon can take before fainting.
- Attack: Influences the power of physical moves.
- Defense: Affects how well a Pokémon can withstand physical attacks.
- Special Attack: Influences the power of special moves.
- Special Defense: Affects how well a Pokémon can withstand special attacks.
- Speed: Determines how fast a Pokémon can act in battle.
How Do IVs Work?
Each of these six stats has an IV value that ranges from 0 to 31. The higher the IV, the better the Pokémon will be in that particular stat. For example, a Pokémon with a Speed IV of 31 will be faster than one with a Speed IV of 10, assuming other conditions are the same.
IVs are determined when you first encounter or hatch a Pokémon. They are randomly assigned and cannot be changed, which means each Pokémon is unique in terms of its IVs. Trainers often seek Pokémon with high IVs to ensure their teams are as strong as possible.
Why Is the Maximum IV Total 186?
If you add up the maximum IV values for all six stats (31 IVs per stat), the total comes to 186 (31 x 6 = 186). This number represents the best possible genetic potential a Pokémon can have across all its stats.
In Cobblemon, as in the main series games, trainers often aim to catch or breed Pokémon with high IVs to build the most powerful teams. A Pokémon with a total IV of 186 is considered perfect.
Why Are IVs Important?
- Battle Performance: Higher IVs mean better stats, leading to stronger performance in battles.
- Breeding: Pokémon with high IVs are used to breed offspring with potentially better stats. (This section is not enabled in Cobblemon yet, but will be added soon)
- Competitive Play: In competitive battling, having Pokémon with high IVs is essential to be competitive. (Imagine a legendary Zapdos with 31 sp. atk and 31 sp. def, it would be huge)
- Pride and Achievement: Catching or breeding a Pokémon with high IVs is a point of pride for many trainers.
How Can You Check IVs in Cobblemon?
In CobblemonGG, you can check your Pokémon's IVs using /pokedex command or by opening the auction page and checking your Pokémon from there. Knowing your Pokémon's IVs can help you decide which ones to focus on and train for battles.
IVs are a fundamental part of understanding and maximizing your Pokémon's potential in Cobblemon. By knowing what IVs are, how they work, and why their maximum value is 186, you can better strategize your gameplay and build stronger teams. Whether you are battling other trainers or just exploring the world of Cobblemon, having Pokémon with high IVs can make a significant difference in your success.
Happy training, and may you catch the perfect Pokémon!

This guide delves into the complexities of obtaining, mining, and utilizing these valuable resources.
Obtaining Evolution Stone
]]>![<![CDATA[Cobblemon GG]]> (13) <![CDATA[Cobblemon GG]]> (13)](https://i0.wp.com/cobblemon.gg/content/images/2024/05/ore.png)
Evolution stones play a crucial role in the Cobblemon universe, enabling the evolution of various Cobblemon. These stones can be mined from specific ores, known as evolution stone ores, scattered throughout the world. This guide delves into the complexities of obtaining, mining, and utilizing these valuable resources.
Obtaining Evolution Stone Ores
Mining
Evolution stone ores are best mined with a stone or higher-tier pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch. Without the Silk Touch enchantment, the ores will drop their respective evolution stones. Using a pickaxe with the Fortune enchantment can yield multiple evolution stones from a single ore.
Natural Generation
The generation of evolution stone ores is highly dependent on biome tags. Each type of evolution stone ore has common and rare biome tags that dictate their frequency of appearance.
- Common Generation: Occurs in two batches. The first batch generates 8 times per chunk in blobs of 1-2 from levels 64 to 320, peaking around level 192. The second batch also generates 8 times per chunk in blobs of 1-2 from levels -64 to 192, with a peak around level 64.
- Rare Generation: Also occurs in two batches. The first batch generates 4 times per chunk in blobs of 1-2 from levels 64 to 320, peaking around level 192. The second batch generates 4 times per chunk in blobs of 1-2 from levels -64 to 192, with a peak around level 64.
This creates a broad range between levels 64 and 192 where evolution stones are plenty.
Biome Tag Rarity
Each evolution stone ore is associated with specific biomes, affecting their common and rare generation rates:
Evolution Stone Ore | Common Biomes | Rare Biomes |
---|---|---|
Fire Stone Ore | Desert, Thermal, Volcanic | Sandy |
Thunder Stone Ore | Highlands, Hills | Jungle, Plains, Tropical |
Water Stone Ore | Ocean, River, Swamp | Jungle, Thermal, Tropical |
Leaf Stone Ore | Forest, Jungle, Lush | Swamp, Tropical |
Moon Stone Ore* | Dripstone | Taiga |
Sun Stone Ore | Badlands, Dripstone, Grassland | Desert, Tropical |
Dawn Stone Ore | Peak, Sky | Floral, Glacial, Hills |
Dusk Stone Ore | Spooky, Taiga | Swamp |
Shiny Stone Ore | Floral, Magical, Sky | Island, Peak |
Ice Stone Ore | Glacial, Snowy, Tundra | Freezing |
*Moon stone ore has a unique generation pattern, mainly forming as part of dripstone pillars in Dripstone Cave biomes. These attempt to generate in dripstone blocks 320 times per chunk in groups of 1-2 from levels -64 to 256.
Usage
Smelting Ingredient
Each evolution stone ore can be smelted to yield its evolution stone, using any fuel source.
- Dawn Stone Ore → Dawn Stone
- Dusk Stone Ore → Dusk Stone
- Fire Stone Ore → Fire Stone
- Ice Stone Ore → Ice Stone
- Leaf Stone Ore → Leaf Stone
- Moon Stone Ore → Moon Stone
- Shiny Stone Ore → Shiny Stone
- Sun Stone Ore → Sun Stone
- Thunder Stone Ore → Thunder Stone
- Water Stone Ore → Water Stone
Special Easter Egg: Note Block
Placing any evolution stone ore under a note block produces a bass drum sound, adding a musical utility to these ores.
Evolution stones are a vital resource for any Cobblemon trainer. Understanding their generation, obtaining them efficiently, and utilizing them effectively can significantly enhance your gameplay experience. Happy mining!

Established Community: Pixelmon boasts a large and dedicated community. There are numerous servers, each offering unique experiences, from competitive battling to role-playing adventures. The mod also has a wealth of online resources, including wikis, forums, and YouTube tutorials, making it easy to find information and get help when you need it.
Comparing the Two
Integration vs. Expansion Cobblemon’s strength lies in its seamless integration with Minecraft’s vanilla gameplay. It feels like a natural addition to the game, enhancing the experience without overwhelming it. Pixelmon, on the other hand, is more of an expansive overhaul, adding a significant amount of new content and mechanics that can transform the way you play Minecraft. Sadly, it doesn't feel like Minecraft like Cobblemon does.
Visual Style While Cobblemon sticks to Minecraft’s blocky aesthetic, with awesome animations, Pixelmon opts for more detailed and 3D Pokémon models. This difference in visual style can be a deciding factor depending on your preference, but as a person who played both, Cobblemon wins over a mile. :)
Community and Customization Both mods have strong communities, but Cobblemon’s focus on customization makes it particularly appealing for players who want to enjoy unique experiences. Pixelmon’s extensive content and established resources make the performance slightly worse than Cobblemon's.
Final Thoughts
Choosing between Cobblemon and Pixelmon ultimately comes down to what kind of experience you’re looking for. If you want a mod that enhances Minecraft without straying too far from its roots, and to feel all the content that Pokemon has to offer, Cobblemon is an excellent choice. Its seamless integration, customization options, and supportive community make it a fantastic option for everyone.
Both mods bring the joy of Pokémon to Minecraft in unique ways, so why not give them both a try? Whichever mod you choose, you're in for an adventure that combines the best of both worlds.
Happy crafting and catching!
