Kite is a supporting character of the Hunter x Hunter series. He first appears as a hunter with Conjuration abilities and the student of Ging Freecss.

After his death at the hands of Neferpitou, Kite was reborn as a female Chimera Ant (being born as the son of the Chimera Ant Queen and younger twin brother of Meruem) but lost all his Nen abilities. Despite being named Reina as a Chimera Ant, they still ask to be called Kite once again.

In the Japanese version, he was voiced by Yūji Kishi in the 1999 adaptation and Shuichi Ikeda in the 2011 adaptation while in the English version, he was voiced by Adam Hunter in the 1999 adaptation and by Christopher Corey Smith in the 2011 adaptation. As Reina, she was voiced by Uki Satake in the Japanese version and by Laura Stahl in the English version.

Appearance[]

As a human, Kite was a tall, slender man who was very thin. He had white flowing hair with the longer locks reaching his knees. His face was shaped similar to a triangle along with a hooked nose and a pointy chin. He had almond eyes that were big and roundish with small hazel irises. He wore a light blue peaked cap, a white long sleeved shirt with a turtleneck with black trousers, around his waist was an azure sash wounded about three times and wore brown shoes.

As a Chimera Ant, Kite is a short female with red long hair, big purple eyes, and freckles around their face. Somewhat similar to their old appearance is that they are still pretty thin, but they have a rat-like tail and now wears a black leather suit and black shoes.

Personality[]

Kite may appear to be rude due to their stoic and serious nature. But in reality, they are a caring person with a fond of animals. they are willing protect others at the cost of themself and has a very strong mind. However, they are willing to never hesitate, even after taking someone's life, after saving Gon Freecss life from a Foxbear, he punched him because of his ignorance almost killed him.

After being reborn, Kite was an enthusiastic child, who was still playing with toys and swords, and was still being watched by Colt. A few days later, they have seemed to be more mature and returned to their old personality because of the recovery of their memories. They then helped Gon and Koala assuage their feelings of the guilt and gave the former a new purpose of life.

• In the Hunter x Hunter manga, he was the first character to be shown.
• He is alternatively named 'Kcyytt' in one of the Hunter x Hunter card collections.
• Kite did not play the Greed Island game properly, but later reveals that Ging took him inside the game once.
  • His nickname in the game was Ngig.
• Kite is the only Chimera Ant who remembers their past life and having a different biological sex to their past self.
• Kite share similarities to Shanks, a supporting character from One Piece:
  • Both characters are the mentor of the respective main protagonists.
  • Both characters lost their arm saving the respective main protagonists from a threat.
  • Both characters are voiced by Shuichi Ikeda.
